It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gene “Geno” Augustin, who died this morning at age 95 after a long illness.
A Lake Cane homeowner and beloved member of our community, Geno swam Lake Cane for more than two decades and completed thousands of crossings. At age 92, he became the oldest person ever to swim across the lake, and he remains the Lucky’s Lake Swim record holder in the 90–94 age group.
Geno was also the founder of the Lake Cane Restoration Society and, for many years, the enthusiastic head pancake flipper at our charitable events. His energy, kindness, humor, and commitment to Lake Cane will be deeply missed.
