Labor Day swim time is 7:45 am. If you cannot make it due to other obligations we hope you have an excellent Labor Day elsewhere, because you are dead to us here. We had over 100 swimmers this morning.
And speaking of the dead The Fourth annual Zombie Swim is just around the corner (another brilliant segue into the Zombie Swim, I am a segue master, bow to me). The Zombie Swim is on September 26th. There will be a costume contest and s’mores. This event is limited to 100 people, so we may sell out. Make sure sign up right away to make sure your spot is held. You can register for the Zombie Swim by clicking here. Register Zombie Swim. I believe Halloween Horror Nights are based on the same principle, you pay good money to be scared shitless in the dark, however, we use real Zombies and all the entry fees goes to the Step Into Swim charity. There Is a costume contest. Don’t dress up as a plucked chicken, as you will not win because the categories are:
- Best Zombie Costume
- Most Sexy Zombie Costume
- Most Bizarre Zombie Costume
We also have an award for the person that traveled the furthest to come to the event and the person that is the oldest participating in the event.
The Lake Cane Restoration Society weather station is up and running. You can check out the air temperature, water temperature (water temp this am was 86.6), wind speed, live video of the lake, water wetness, and more. It is available on www.lakecane.org. and www.luckyslakeswim.com. Water wetness is currently at 100% (it’s been 100% since the last newsletter, crazy isn’t it)
There is a Swim Across America event going on on Saturday, September 12. We need bodies in the water. You do not have to donate to participate. If you are not familiar with Swim Across America, nationwide it has raised millions of dollars for cancer research over the last many years. The swim is at 6:30 a.m. At the Rosen Aquatic Center in the Doc Lucky Meisenheimer Natatorium (boy that was a shameless plug Lucky forced me to put in), a little early for a Saturday however a good cause. It still gives you time to swim at the Rosen Aquatic Center and then come and do a couple of crossings afterwards at Lucky’s Lake Swim. You can register here. Register Swim Across America
Lucky is celebrating the 15th anniversary of his multiple award winning novel “The Immune” with the release of the paperback version and ebook version (up until now, it has only been available in hardback.) Shockingly, the protagonist in the book is an open-water swimmer. Can you imagine that? All the profits from the book go to charity. The novel is allegorical science fiction. If you only read erotic romance novels it’s likely not a good read for you. However, a copy does look good on your bookshelf and convinces visitors to your home that you have some literary depth. Make Lucky’s Day and buy a copy now. The Immune

Someone left their sweet pea and violet deodorant in the bathroom. Lucky denies that it is his, as he only uses the brand, Gladiators’ Sweat and Blood. Recent polling suggests most believe it belongs to Heffernan, but nobody, so far, has agreed to smell his armpits to confirm, so the mystery remains unsolved

- There have been no further sightings of the gator, which was reported in the last newsletter, and folks have been looking. It was described at less than 6 ft. Just for perspective, the gator in this picture, based on AI calculation of dimensions, is 5 ft. 3 in from nose tip to tail end. It may have moved on or been swallowed by the Lake Cane monster, so no worries.
