It’s that time of year again when the black sausage suits make their return to Lucky’s Lake Swim. Even though the water temperature is in the mid to high 70s (much warmer than the springs), black sausage suits can be seen everywhere (okay, not the hot tub, folks, if you need to wear a sausage suit in the hot tub you have a real psychological problem, far beyond having the need to swim in a lake). This, of course, begs the question, is it okay to make fun of swimmers wearing black sausage suits, or is this form of hate speech, which should be banned? The answers to these questions are yes, yes, and no. At Lucky’s Lake swim, we have a safe area (inside the pump room in the overflow tank under the grid) where you will be safe from skin swimmers verbally abusing you. I must warn you that Lucky occasionally stores zombies in this pit, so it should be considered an unsafe, safe zone for black sausage suit wearers.
You may wonder, is it okay to hate on Lucky when he starts swimming in the Swimex? Absolutely, he has very thick skin and takes abuse very well, unless you ask him how the home elevator is coming along. His head will spin 360 degrees, spit lava, and lightning bolts will exit his eye sockets. Then he will challenge you to a duel (his weapon of choice will be the yo-yo, so it will be a slow, painful death for you). The point is, don’t trigger him with elevator jokes unless you have a death wish.

This is a nice article on Coach Norm. He works to keep Lake Odell clean which feeds into Lake Cane. There is a shout out to Lucky’s Lake Swim in the article. Keep up the great work coach. Link to the Article

For those of you that were wondering where all of our online weather data went to, here is the science based answer. Jay Madigan (Exec. Director of the LCRS) has taken a new initiative with the weather station. We are now tracking soil temperatures, weed growth and slug migrations. It is believed that this is the only NOAA linked weather station that is tracking these data points. Congratulations Jay on another cutting edge data collecting milestone. If the Lake Cane Restoration Society doesn’t receive some love from NOAA, we will revert back to collecting weather data in the next few weeks. Jay, we all hope you will be getting that Dundie award from NOAA, good luck. Jay, regardless of whether you win or not you will always be our Michael Scott.

I think we have some 35th anniversary Lake Swim shirts we are giving away for free (with a $20 or more donation to the Lake Cane Restoration Society). Ask Jay. Do it quickly, before rat poop starts appearing on the shirts.
Okay, Jay says I should not say rat poop when trying to promote a product, in my defense I was trying to create a since of urgency, so my apologies, Jay. Murine excreta.
