A big turnout today at Lucky’s Lake Swim with 140+ swimmers and 26 of them were first time swimmers. How do we keep getting so many new swimmers? You would think we would eventually run out at some time. The wall of fame is screaming NO MAS!
Congratulations to Lilliana Krstolic Age 10 who just blew away the 10 and under girls record for Lucky’s Lake swim. She did the swim in a blistering 14:56 breaking the old record by several minutes. Her friend Jaclyn age 12 joined her with a time of 14:54, but was off the 11-12 record time.
Yes, it is that time of year (Lucky’s birthday coming up) and folks are already asking what can they get for Lucky that he would appreciate other than “Showering him with Gold Doubloons” which is his standard answer. After doing some deep investigative journalism we have found what Lucky would really appreciate is toilet paper. Yes, you heard that correctly toilet paper. Lake swimmers go through toilet paper rapidly. We don’t want to ever go back to the summer of ’94 where we were forced to one square rationing per swimmer. All the additional smells drove Lucky’s dogs crazy. Please do not bring old Sears and Roebucks catalogs. We understand that it remains a classic go to toilet paper, but the the glossy pages clog the drains and Lucky has post-traumatic out house syndrome from his childhood days and even the crinkle of one of the thin index pages can set him off . . . of course you can always bring him a yo-yo as he doesn’t have enough of these.
We welcomed an open water training clinic for Special Olympic Swimmers on Saturday. We had several swimmers from around the state join us with their united partners. All of them successfully completed the swim. Yay!
We couldn’t load any photos on this blog due to a wordpress glitch, so we added the below video of Lucky on National Talk like a pirate day, which was Sept 19th. Full disclosure, Lucky stole Tom’s pirate joke, which was the best part of the video. Shame, shame Captain Lucky.
