May 20th is the “official” 28th birthday of Lucky’s Lake swim so come celebrate with us and help raise some funds for the Lake Cane Restoration Society. There will be a raffle for 3 rain barrels (you must be present to win) and for some other cool items. All proceeds go to the Lake Cane Restoration Society, which works hard to keep the lake swimmable.
We are also having our 1st annual pool toy float parade. Bring a blow-up pool toy to tow across lake cane (let’s keep this PG rated) or you can make or decorate you own. You may not have a rider on the float. There is no entry fee, other than loss of respect among your peers, and there will be some sort of awards but the categories have not been hammered out yet.
According to Jay Madigan the executive director of the Lake Cane Restoration Society (LCRS) the first 100 people to give a $20 donation to LCRS will receive a Native Florida Plant (no it won’t be Cannabis Sativa) or eight tickets for a chance to win a rain barrel (no the barrel will be empty, sorry we are aware that there is a drought going on). So bring money, donate, and become a Friend of the LCRS. Jay is shooting for 100 Friends for the society.

Mark shows a technique for attaching the swim buoy to the pool toy for towing. Soon to be a Youtube educational video, not really.
