They say all politics are local and our local elections for county commissioners time is now. Obviously we would like to have a commissioner in our district that is Lake Cane friendly. As the government is the largest polluter of the lake (through directed road run off into the lake) it is nice to have politicians in place that will work to rectify the problem. Our current district commissioner Scott Boyd had worked well with us for many years and has been a great help in improving the lake quality. We appreciate all the aid he has given us from working to stop the “poison pipeline” to hundreds of thousands put into the lake in chemical treatments to keep the lake safe. I would give Scott an A on helping Lake Cane. Scott’s term as District 1 commissioner has come to an end and now we have four candidates that are running for his position. Two of the candidates have visited the lake swim on more than one occasion Robert “Bobby O” Olszewski and Betsy VanderLey, the other two have not. The lake Cane Restoration society asked all the candidates some questions and the only two to respond were Robert “Bobby O” Olszewski and Betsy VanderLey, below are their responses. LCRS is a 501c corporation and cannot endorse a candidate, but we have tried to ask the right questions so you can best judge your choice. Please take time to vote. Lucky
