Numbers are getting a bit thin during the swims. Perhaps the 12′ gator attack at blue springs is affecting our swims (I know people always are bringing up the subject of gators and believe you me we have tried to get some 12″ gators for Lake Cane, but there just aren’t any available) or it may be the “cold weather” the water temperature has plummeted to 76 degrees (this is considered a heat wave for California Open water swims). There is still plenty of good swimming days left in the year and don’t forget in a few days we will be going to daylight savings time and again it will be light for all the morning swims for a while.
The next Red letter day is Sat. Nov. 21st where a bunch of us are getting together to honor the navy seals foundation. This is an informal swim in the evening to help raise money for this worthwhile cause. Find out more here.
Lucky broke his 55-59 age group lake swim record by about 45 seconds negative splitting his swim (amazing what losing 20 lbs will do, now if he could just learn to swim straight).
You might be right, about Doing alligator, although I am not worry about much. News are negative output when comes to present it. If you read statiristics about accidents with alligators, they are way low, it just hit us hard when is around the block, here is when people get concerns…and news do not help much…my reason not swimming often is because distance from Apopka to Lucky…but I am programming to get more often as I got a new wetsuit not used yet…so see you soon in a week…
The water feels fabulous this time of year. I admit it is not “bathwater warm” as some like, but once you get swimming it’s perfect.
