Some sad news, our backup starter for the lake swim, Duncan the Dog (Hannah’s understudy) has moved on to Doggie Heaven. He unfortunately got run over last week by a truck backing up in the driveway (no fault to the driver). Duncan was mostly deaf and blind in the left eye and in the wrong place at the wrong time. He went quickly so did not suffer long. We are sorry to see him go. There is now a lake in the beyond with a new starter dog. RIP Duncan.
On a lighter side, Tom Welch (1000k club member) turned 55 (maybe this is a darker side story depends on how you look at it) and there was a bit of a small celebration at Pammie’s sammies restaurant Sunday which had a bushel full of swimmers in attendance (Lucky eats there every friday afternoon, but don’t hold this against the restaurant). Everyone had to display a talent during the evening (except for Sam . . . actually she did display her talent for bossing a the guys around so I guess this should count) and Glenn Baker stole the show with his Hee Haw song (sadly everyone there was old enough to be able to sing the chorus by heart). Here is the video link (should not be viewed by anyone under the age of 30).
Water temp may dip below 60 in the next couple of days. I know that is real exciting news for the insane. Which reminds me, congrats to Glenn Baker who completed his two hour qualifier swim for the English Channel relay. Cold water . . . yay!
Don’t forget to mark your calendars April 5 is our Easter Sunday Service and Swim.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Duncan was a great dog!
I’m so sorry to hear about Duncan.
I sure miss everybody and swimming and hope to be back in a few weeks.
Sad to hear about Duncan. Such a sweet pup. The lake swimmers were fortunate to share a little bit of Duncan’s time here.
