Great news! The water temperature is now 84 degrees, and although I don’t recommend pulling out the wetsuits yet, it is now “almost” comfortable getting in the lake. Mid September through October are the glory days for swimming open water in Florida (other than the lake being dark in the morning). We usually don’t get any better swimming conditions than we will have for the next two months, so come on out and enjoy the nice water clarity and temperature.
Rollins College swim team will be joining us on Oct 4th for a lake swim (I expect some records to fall). This is the first time that Rollins College has come out as a team, although their coach Rich Morris and several individual swimmers have done the swim. They will be having a breakfast for the team privately catered, so just to give everyone heads up that will be going on as a separate event. But, even though you may not be able to sneak some food from the Rollins Swim Team breakfast, the good news is, The Gladiators (Orlando’s 14u water polo team) will be giving out free muffins that morning as part of their raffle they will be holding. The winner last year was our very own lake swimmer Mike Sasso, winning a tidy $850 . Not bad for a $5 raffle ticket.

Mike Sasso won $850 in the raffle held by the Gladiators water polo club last year. This year it could be you! So make sure you buy a raffle ticket $5 on Oct 4th at the Lake swim.

The Man o’ War Swim team would like to thank all of Lucky’s Lake swimmers that served as volunteer coaches this year. They are off to the State Special Olympic Swimming Championships Oct 4th & 5th

The carp are all in but the hydrilla keep growing. It will likely take 6 to 8 months before we start seeing the impact of the carp on the hydrilla. We do not want to oversupply the lake with Carp as they would end up eating everything. The carp which were placed are 10 inches, they grow to about 4 feet in size.
My wife and i have seen the carp munching away at the hydrilla even on our side of the lake. The fish literally tear pieces off the plant leaving pieces floating on top of the water. It is pretty cool. Tried to get Lucky to put some of the carp over on our side of the lake but he said he had to stay away from the bad element..
