Great time at the midnight swim. We had over one hundred watch the highly educational “Sharknado”, and then 90 folks chose to swim afterwards. The safer swimmer lighted buoys were used for the first time, and is was a really cool effect. We lost no one during the swim, but I believe there may have been a couple of suicide attempts during Sharknado (highly understandable for those that were listening to the dialog). We had six midnight swimmers that were first time swimmers, which is really bold. Seventeen people did the “dynamic duo” (midnight swim and 4th of July swim) up from 3 last year (this is what happens if you say you are going to take a picture). Audrey did her 500th crossing, and got silver capped, and Dave did his 900th crossing and got two pats on the back, plus an attaboy (sorry Dave no love given for #900).

A lottery drawing was done for those that have named carp (it’s still not too late to name a carp we still need around 90 more named). Brad Pace won big, winning the 100 Trillion dollar Zimbabwe note (don’t spend it all in one place Brad), as well as a Wonder Claw. Brad also won several towels, but he brought them as prizes and he didn’t what to carry them back home, so we had to keep pulling more names until Brad’s name didn’t come up (it took about 10 draws). Ron Davis won a towel and was present so he received it (but as of today he is still waiting to get it along with his 200K shirt which he never got three times) The others winners who were not present are Mike Mikovsky (Luther) won a wonder claw, Patrick (Blinky) won a Wonder Claw and the following folks all won nice beach towels Sean Dishman (Sean Jr.), Harry Raysia (Becca), Don Paradis (Wasabi), Maureen Powers (Slo Mo 2), Michael (Superfly) , Jay Madigan (Maccabee1), Mary Holloway (Dopey). So here’s the deal, winners have three weeks to pick up their prizes from Lucky or the prizes go back to the purgatory from whence they came (I don’t know exactly what this means, but it sounds dramatic and sophisticated. There will be more drawings and you still have time to name a carp and get into the drawing. NAME YOUR CARP HERE

Someone once said, ” if you can convince 100 people to watch Sharknado with you and then swim 1K, in the dark, in a Florida lake”, well that person should be President . . . Thank God we only had 90.

I have looked at this photo long and hard and it begs the question “does a large floatation device require a swimmer if the floatation device is doing the lake swim”?

These crazy fools did both the midnight swim and the fourth of July morning swim back to back, and I ask you what do they have to show for it? Answer: Just this lousy picture.

Congratulations to Audrey who made the 500K club on the 4th. Normally I would make some sort of snarky comment right about now, but she brought me a blackberry cobbler, so I will keep my yap shut. I may be a fool, but not a total fool.

Lucky hosted his 4th Party in the evening and it started a bit early with some underwater hockey. Yes, this is yet another plug for underwater hockey.

Lucky had his childhood dream come true, at the July 4th party working as a carny in a dunk tank. It’s nice to have a back up plan if the dermatology gig doesn’t work out.

Special Olympics party at Lucky’s on July 5th. Gregg Dedic (member of the 500K club) lead his side to victory in water volleyball. Lucky has filled a formal protest with the world water volleyball assoc.
I love reading your blog comments. Always a good laugh or chuckle. I’m still sick that I had to work all weekend. Looks like folks had a blast at all the 4th of July activities. Congrats again to Audrey!!
Sometimes you have to make the call between work and important stuff. I just tell my boss I’ve got some important stuff to do and he gives me the time off. He’s a bit eclectic though.
Great times Lucky! Thanks for all you do, and the least I can do is bake a lowly cobbler!
There is no such thing as a “lowly cobbler”. Blackberry cobblers are works of gustatory art.
So, the key is to bake a cobbler? Will keep this in mind…If I ever get past 25 crossings!
Not just any cobbler it must be a blackberry cobbler. Blackberry cobbler is my six-pack’s kryptonite. Definitely a love hate relationship.
