Check out the safer swimmer buoy video.

We had several records fall recently when the Blue Dolphin and Indian River swim teams came in for a dip.  The course record previously held by John Meisenheimer, VII with a time of 12:58 was broken by four seconds by 16 year old Micky Kennedy with a time of 12:54 setting the 15-16 age group record as well along the way. Jessica Richardson age 19 was within 2 seconds of the course record for open women held by Julia Buddendorff  14:18, but was still good enough to set the women’s 19-24 age group record by nearly 5 minutes with a time of 14:20.  Gared Cosgrove set the 13-14 record for boys with a time of 13:34.  Serginni Marken set the men’s 19-24 year old record with a time of 14:06. Elizabeth Richardson set the 13-14 year old women’s record with a time of 14:36 and Ashley Boddiford set the women’s 15-16 year old record with a time of 15:12. Just when you thought we had enough rules we add another. Every newbie swimmer “gets" to wear this lime green cap for their first 5 swims. (After that please don’t wear it at the lake, its yours to keep and you can wear it anywhere else.) This is so others can easily identify you as a new swimmer to the lake. We were using the safer swimmers buoys, but now there are so many regulars using them we can’t tell the first timers from the regulars.

Just when you thought we had enough rules we add another. Every newbie swimmer “gets” (yes that means it’s required) to wear this lime green cap for their first 5 swims. (After that please don’t wear it at the lake, its yours to keep and you can wear it anywhere else – weddings, the mall, to meet the girl friend’s parents for the first time, etc . . .) This is so other swimmers can easily identify you as a new swimmer to the lake.  This is entirely for safety reasons.  There is absolutely no dishonor in wearing this cap other than regular swimmers will call you lime head behind your back. Everyone please help remind new swimmers to wear the cap for their first five swims. Many thanks!

There has been some outside discussion that I made up the names of the potential midnight swim movies. Sharknado, DinoShark, Sharktopus and The Girls Rebel force of Competitive Swimmers Battle the Undead. So I think this photo ends that discussion. Now only how to choose, how to choose.
