Folks are already asking about the swim time on Memorial Day. The swim will be at 7:45am. That is Monday May 26th. The rest of the swim times remain normal.
Okay we got some changes going on at the Lucky’s Lake Swim. Although I do prefer casualness regarding the swim, and 99% of the folks seem to understand their limits and capabilities, we have those two-standard-deviations-from-the-mean folks that have to be protected from themselves. All these machinations are largely for safety reasons. Please remember that all new lake swimmers for their first three swims must have some sort of floatation with them. If they don’t bring a pull buoy, wet suit etc.. we will be happy to loan them a safer swimmer buoy (just because you have floatation does not eliminate our expectation that you know you can swim one kilometer without risk to yourself or others). We are always happy to loan a safer swimmer buoy even after you have done your first 3 swims. Thanks
If you see this sign in the walkway you are too late to swim that day. We have only two start times 6:30am on weekdays and 7:45am on Saturdays. You must be at the dock at the time of the start. You don’t have to exactly start in mass, you can take your time getting started, but we expect everyone to go through the check in and hear any announcements (i.e. Lucky’s death speech). As always you can do as many crossings as you like, but please try to be out of the water by 9:30 the very latest 9:45am on Saturdays. We don’t want to tick off the boaters that wish to use the lake and they have been very accommodating to letting swimmers take over the lake in the early morning.
- I think this sign is self explanatory. If not, please ask Ron to explain it to you. I must warn you, he will explain it through means of interpretive dance, which has caused some individuals to develop post-traumatic-stress-syndrome features. Forewarned!
The office complex across the street has asked for swimmers not to use their parking lot. Lucky’s front yard parking lot is still open and free! If you are a cyclist or runner you might consider parking at Dr. Phillips high school parking lot off of Turkey Lake Rd. (800 meters away) and riding or jogging over. Thanks
Congrats to Kevin Hillgendorff on his recent entry into the 100K club.
Congrats to Shelley Segar Hughes newest 100K club member. Also in the photo Tom Welch who is passing out the SWAG.
Swimmers and their bums would like say thanks for the donation of the toilet paper. Some folks get babies left on their door step and others get toilet paper . . . oh and corpses too. We prefer toilet paper not that I have anything against babies or corpses.
We had some pelicans on the lake the other day. We like pelicans unless they are eating our carp, which I don’t think they are doing. But the last time I checked I only counted 99 Darryls. We still need more carp if you are interesting in helping out and naming a carp click here.
We found this nice earring. Would the former owner please let Lucky know the value. He is trying to decide whether to pierce his ear or sell it on eBay. He’s serious, he has to have something to hide those horrid hairs coming out of his earlobe. Three words Laser hair removal.
