Lake swim records are now posted on the web site. You can find the link under the photo in the upper left hand corner of the website or you can click here. This is not the final format of the record board. We are currently working on a drop down tab that will list the progression of the record times for each age group and the top ten all time best swims. Should be about two weeks before this is up. The records are also posted on the dock. We will be timing for records on Saturdays. If you are an out of town swimmer and are here on the weekdays please let me know ahead of time if you will be trying for a record so we can make arrangements to time you. You can set records towing a swimmer safe buoy or life guard torpedo but not a pull buoy or any device that gives you buoyancy.
NEW RULES FOR FIRST TIME SWIMMERS. Due to a few swimmers slipping through our screening process and needing assistance (which we don’t have) in getting back to shore we are instituting some new safety rules.
1.We expect all swimmers doing the lake swim to be competent swimmers that can easily swim one kilometer in open water without assistance.
2. From now on new swimmers for the first three full crossings will be expected to swim with some floatation device. Swim safe buoy, pull buoy, wetsuit, life guard torpedo etc… ( we have plenty of these items to loan out)
3. First time dark swimmers will also be required to use floatation for the first three swims no matter how many daylight swims they have done.
4. If you are learning open water swimming by doing a partial swim (i.e. to the first buoy and back you (must swim with a chaperone and the chaperone must also have floatation).
5. Swimmers 12 and under must swim with a chaperone, both swimmer and chaperone must have floatation.
6. Regular swimmers please do not encourage new swimmers to attempt the swim unless you know they are competent at swimming one kilometer. Please also help police the swim, if you see someone you question their swimming abilities point it out.

John has been doing a lot of swimming in the house lately, so for safety reasons I started having him wear the ISHOF SafeSwimmer float and I’m glad I did. Tonight he swam right into the billard table and knocked himself silly. He had slipped below the floor boards and if it wasn’t for the safeswimmer buoy he might have been lost forever below the cement foundation of our house. We now all wear the safe swimmer buoy wether we are doing a short sprint to the fridge or just lazily floating down the stairs. This is a great device and they say it works even better in the pool or lake.

Duck is now officially in the 100K club thanks to Mi Hoshino letting duck swim with her. Duck insisted on an all-american photo with a brass band and fireworks to commemorate his making the club (exactly the same as what Ron wanted with the exception of the Blue Angles fly over). This was the best I could do (I think is looks all-american). He was mad about not having the brass band and fireworks so he pooped on me but missed the hat. My understanding is duck is running laps around the yard with Mi after the swim. I’m sure he will quit that once he discovers there is not an award for yard runs.
Yes, Gene is BACK cancer free and raring to go and you know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another pancake breakfast swim. We are hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday November 2nd. We are raising funds for getting triploid carp for the lake to take care of the the Hydrilla problem. (Those are the weeds we are having to swim through more and more). We have over 200 already ordered. Any donation of any size would be great – our suggested donation is $20. If you do a check make the check out to the lake cane restoration society. You do not have to donate to swim or take part in the breakfast.

Gene is back and ready for a Lake Swim/ pancake breakfast on Saturday Nov 2nd. We are raising money to purchase triploid carp to take care of the Hydrilla problem. If you wish to help with the breakfast or donate items let Gene know.
Everyone loves to hate a lottery winner so now it is time to hate Mike!
