The next three weeks will be the best swimming temperature all year. So, dust off your speedos and come on out for some fantastic swims.
So we have looked at the hydrilla issue and it looks like we are going to need about a thousand triplod carp to keep the weeds in control. Now these are several dollars each and Ron (digger the dog’s owner) found out he could get freshwater triploid barracuda for free. Turns out they eat 100 times more than the carp. So he got ten and released them. Unfortunately, it turns out what they eat is 100 times more meat that grass carp. Barracuda take a pass on the salad. So now we want to get rid of the barracuda from the lake and I am asking for everyone’s help. They are fearless and they swim right next to you so they are easy to grab. The photo below shows the correct technique for snagging a barracuda. With your front hand grab right below the gill slit (if you need a firmer grip, slide your index finger inside the gill slit). Your back hand should grab right in front of the posterior dorsal fin. They wiggle a lot, as you can see, so hold tight. Wade to shore and throw it out on land, and watch out for your toes as it will be flopping and snapping around on the ground.
I got the first one out, now only nine more to go. They are all about the same size so should be easy to see with the good water clarity. If you wear a big shinny ring they will come in closer so they are much easier for you to grab. I appreciate everyones help on this project.
Congratulations to the Orlando Gladiators (Lucky’s Son Max shown) Who qualified to attend the National 12 and under water polo invitational in Colorado. They will be selling raffle tickets this Saturday at the lake swim for $5 (for half the pot – Drawing the following Tuesday) If you buy tickets you also get a muffin. My understanding is these are calorie free muffins so you can eat as many as you want and not gain weight.

It’s not even 2014 and the debating has already begun. What will the movie be for the next midnight swim? So far we have leading the pack DINOSHARK, SHARKNATO AND SHARKTOPUS. Please let us know your ideas, they can’t be any worse than the current picks. I must admit I had to preview Sharknado (how can you not watch a movie titled “Sharknado”). I can’t wait for the academy award nominations for best name of film, “Sharknado” is a shoo in to win.
It’s official the shower is back working by the hot tub. Enough flow that you can drown in it. I hope that Ron will start paying his dues again.
