Gene our 2nd most famous swimmer (sorry Gene but early polls show that digger the dog is the most famous Lucky’s Lake Swimmer) celebrated his 82nd birthday today by swimming the lake.  Since Gene is in the 1000 K club this might not sound like much of an achievement, but Gene is also in the midst of a battle with pancreatic cancer.  He is receiving chemo and radiation treatments in preparation for an up coming surgery. The prognosis for pancreatic cancer is typically dismal, but Gene’s cancer was diagnosed extremely early and he is enrolled in an unique treatment protocol in Boston which has high hopes for a cure.  Gene is now constantly traveling between Orlando and Boston for these treatments. You can follow Genes blog on his journey here. Gene has encountered multiple unexpected travel expenses in his battle.  If you would like to help our fellow swimmer out you can make a donation here.

Gene our oldest 100K and 1000K club member turns 82. Rock On Gene!

Our 3rd annual Easter sunrise service, swim and pancake breakfast is rapidly approaching. Pastor Tom is looking for volunteers to help with set up, food, etc... If you would like to help he is having a quick meeting right after the lake swim on this coming Saturday. If you can't make the meeting please let Tom know that you would like to help out. Many thanks!
