Sad news for the Lucky’s Lake Swimming community. We have lost a dear friend. Ted Strong, Lucky’s next door neighbor and co-host for many of our lake swimming events died in a tragic parachuting accident on Friday. Ted was president of Strong Enterprises, a parachute manufacturing company, and is a legend in the sky diving community. Ted had completed thousands of lake swim crossings over the last 20 years. Ted embodied the spirit of the lake swim. He never worried about how fast he crossed he just enjoyed the moment. Ted would say “I always start and finish with Lucky . . . I do one crossing and he does two”.
Ted you will be missed.
Next time you come out, swim a lap for Ted.

I’m floored. Ted has been a fixture as long as I’ve been swimming. First in Masters and later at Lucky’s. He may not have been the fastest guy out there but he was certainly the most consistant. I will miss Ted. He was a friend.
