Gene (Geno) Augustin on Saturday turns 80 and becomes the first octogenarian in the 100 K club (he is currently the second oldest to swim the lake – I believe his goal is, as mine, to be the oldest. Geno will be swimming Saturday so come on out and join him (for those that say the water’s too cold – remember Geno has been swimming all winter so your lame excuses will fall on deaf ears – actually if you are speaking to Geno everything falls on deaf ears). Think you don’t know Geno? Remember these things. He puts out and takes in the buoys on Saturdays, does the pancake breakfasts, maintains the email list, and runs the Lake Cane Restoration Society. I know what your thinking (I could do all those things, too, if I was retired) Not So! He works full time with the company he owns making specialty radar antennas. Yes, the guy’s an engineer, and if you want to have all your neurons fuse and implode your brain, just listen to Mark, Bruce and Geno discussing the mathematics of engineering in the hot tub. Join Geno Saturday and I promise a great swim, and no math.

Maybe I can overcome my fear of alligators by Saturday and join my Dad in the swim!
Mike Augustin
WHAT DID YOU SAY??? (‘E KNOW KNOWS MUTHAH!)
The reason Geneo can do what he does, is I help his wife keep him on his toes. We talk business every day, try to come up with solutions, and invent new ways of beating each other in Racquetball, swimming, board games, metal detecting, boating. Your getting the idea, Geno never says no to new business idea’s, inventing, playing, or just working all night for a solution.
We keep him calm by serving him Gallo Livingston Burgundy Wine. And you all thought that was coffee.
Geno, taught Digger to swim across lake Cane, while trying to drown him. Digger wishes you Happy Birthday, and any presents you get that are balls, he wants them. Digger is afraid what you would do with them if you kept them!!!
The reason he swam all winter is because he can’t feel pain anymore. His whole body is numb? I’m in your in, who said that? Happy birthday buddy!
Make a hundred plus and beat us all!
Ron
Ron,
The best way to keep a guy on his toes is to raise the urinals in the men’s room!
You left out Backgammon.
Congrats to Geno! Lucky I hope to join you in your pursiut of Geno’s record in 27 years.
Sorry I have missed out on all the cold this year but I have been suffering in Oahu so it makes my commute a little longer than from Melbourne.
I will be back in town in three weeks for a week i think hope to see you then.
I have heard of that Oahu suffering before, but if you put on enough sunscreen there shouldn’t be a problem. I believe the water temp drops as low as 76 degrees some days. Nice to know a fellow can put on a double layer of wetsuits if needed – of course the problem is finding someone that sells wetsuits in Oahu.
